More Record Highs for US Markets

Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — U.S. stock continued their push into record territory Thursday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 62.90 points at another record high of 14,865.14. The S&P 500 added 5.64 points to close at an all-time high of 1,593.37. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite added only 2.90 points Thursday to close at 3,300.
The Labor Department says first-time unemployment claims dropped sharply last week to a seasonally-adjusted 346,000. That eased some of the concerns about the weak March jobs report released last Friday.
The government’s extending a program that allows borrowers with mortgages backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac to refinance at lower rates. The Home Affordable Refinance Program, known as HARP, will now run through 2015.
