National Security Advisor Tom Donilon arranged the talks with Putin and several members of his cabinet Monday in Moscow.

The two presidents will meet the week of June 17 in Northern Ireland, according to a statement from the White House. Both will be attending the annual G8 Summit.

The White House also said the two would meet for a “bilateral summit” around Labor Day.  The location of the second set of talks was not immediately disclosed.

President Obama and President Putin have a lot to talk about.  In addition to powder keg issues in China and Syria, the U.S. infuriated Russian officials last week with the release of its so-called “Magnitsky List,” barring 18 Russian nationals from American soil for alleged human rights violations.  Russia responded with a list of 18 Americans who may not enter its borders.  The Kremlin has also banned Americans from adopting Russian children for perceived diplomatic slights.

The National Security Council announced the news on social media after Monday’s talks, tweeting, “NSA Donilon’s talks prepare for meeting btwn POTUS & President Putin on margins of G8 Summit and a US-Russia bilateral summit in early Sept.”
