Reese Witherspoon: My Baby ‘Stole My Brain’

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) — In a candid new interview conducted before Reese Witherspoon‘s disorderly conduct arrest last week, the girl-next-door actress quipped that becoming a mom for the third time has caused her to lose her mind.
“Ever since I had the baby, I can’t remember anything,” Witherspoon, 37, says about her baby boy Tennessee, born last September. “Seriously, this child stole my brain. I’m sure I’m losing friendships over forgetting to get back to people. But you can’t keep up with everything. I’ve got a 13-year-old, a 9-year-old and a baby.”
Witherspoon told British magazine Red that she often feels like she has a “CNN ticker tape” running through her head: “Where is Ava? She’s okay. Good. Where is Deacon? He’s okay. Good. Where is Tennessee? Is he okay? Yes. Great. Back to Ava. … It doesn’t stop.”
The actress recently took a break from the kids for a girls weekend in Mexico with famous friends Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore.
“It’s nice to hang with Drew because we both just had babies and we can support each other. And Cameron is such a funny, bright gal. She’s an incredibly sharp business-minded woman, but she disguises that side of herself. It’s her secret alter ego. It’s important to nurture your friendships and have fun because you can’t be a good mom unless you’re taking care of yourself,” Witherspoon told the magazine.
Witherspoon’s squeaky clean image took a hit April 19, after she was arrested for disorderly conduct following her husband, Hollywood agent Jim Toth’s own arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Saying she was “deeply embarrassed,” the actress apologized for her behavior toward the state trooper who pulled the couple over.
“Oh my gosh, I don’t know what I would have done so many times in my life if I hadn’t had my girlfriends,” Witherspoon told Red before the incident. “They have literally gotten me up out of bed, taken my clothes off, put me in the shower, dressed me, said, ‘Hey, you can do this,’ put my high heels on and pushed me out the door!”
Her friends have also reminded her she has a lot to celebrate, including displaying her Oscar for “Walk the Line” proudly in her living room. “Because Lord knows every day is not a success, every year is not a success,” she told the magazine. “You have to celebrate the good.” With celebrating her achievements has come Witherspoon’s growing confidence as a businesswoman. “I feel like I know what I’m doing now, and also that other people know that I know what I’m doing. I’m very driven,” she said.
