Wrigley Field to Undergo $500 Million in Renovations
Published at(CHICAGO) — One of the most famous stadiums in sports is getting a facelift. The city of Chicago and Wrigley Field have agreed to a $500 million renovation plan.
The stadium will see a variety of changes and additions, including its first electronic outfield video board.
Wrigley will also host more night games than ever before. The Cubs currently play about 30 night games a season, and under the new proposal, the team would play 40 night games. Along with the extra night games, the stadium will also host four yearly concerts and possibly some smaller-scale shows.
Under the new proposal, which doesn’t include taxpayer funding, the Rickett’s family would be allowed to build a 175-room hotel, a plaza, and even an office building with retail space and a health club.
Wrigley field originally opened in 1914, and is the second-oldest stadium in baseball.
