Brett Lawrie Placed on DL
Published atLawrie suffered the injury during the Jays’ 9-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves Monday when he was stealing second base. Lawrie stayed in the game for one more batter but then was pulled for a pinch-runner.
The DL stint is retroactive to Tuesday because Lawrie couldn’t play in Toronto’s 7-6 loss to the Braves Tuesday.
The Jays have called up right-handed pitcher Todd Redmond from Triple-A Buffalo, and selected the contracts of lefty Juan Perez and right-hander Neil Wagner from Buffalo as well. First baseman Clint Robinson was designated for assignment.
The 23-year-old Lawrie is hitting .209 with five home runs, 14 RBIs and a .268 on-base percentage this season.
