Mike Green scored a power-play goal in overtime that helped give goalkeeper Braden Holtby a win, and the Washington Capitals defeated the New York Rangers, 1-0 for a 2-0 series lead.

New York’s Henrik Lundqvist had 37 saves, while Holtby had 24 in Game 2.

The game remained scoreless until the eight minute mark of overtime, when Green scored on a power-play from the slot to give the Capitals a commanding lead heading into Game 3 in New York on Monday.

Alex Ovechkin had seven shots on goal for the Washington attack, while Ryan Callahan had five for the Rangers.

Mark Staal remained out for the Rangers while he deals with an eye injury.
