New Information Released on Susan Powell Case

(SALT LAKE CITY, UT) — Newly released police files say Josh Powell had an affair with a Utah woman just months before his wife disappeared. A West Valley City police detective’s report says investigators contacted the woman, whose full name is redacted, in August 2010 after her phone number was discovered in connection with the case. She told police she had a sexual relationship with Josh Powell after meeting him through a dating service. The woman said she knew Powell by the name John Staley, and she didn’t know he was married to Susan Powell.
Monday Utah Police say they believe Susan Powell’s brother-in-law was “heavily involved” in getting rid of her body. Both Susan Powell’s husband and brother-in-law killed themselves. West Valley City police say they are closing the active investigation into the case, and are officially calling it a ‘cold-case’.
