Online Sales Tax: Senate Expected to Pass Bill

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) — The free ride is almost over for millions of online shoppers who’ve been buying things without paying sales tax.
The senate is expected to pass a bill Monday establishing an online sales tax. It means most retailers will have to collect sales tax and pass it along to the state where the buyer lives.
It would not apply to businesses with less than $1 million in sales.
