Cuddyer, 34, hasn’t played since Wednesday due to the injury. After Cuddyer did not show any improvement in the batting cage Saturday, the Rockies decided to place him on the DL.

The Rockies called up outfielder Charlie Blackmon from Triple-A Colorado Springs Sunday to take Cuddyer’s roster spot.

The 26-year-old Blackmon is hitting .336 with three home runs, 21 RBIs and five stolen bases this season.

Cuddyer’s DL stint is retroactive to May 9, so he will be eligible to return May 24.

Cuddyer is hitting .319 with seven home runs, 23 RBIs and a .383 on-base percentage this season.
