SImplot Watching Canadian Biotech Apples

(BOISE, ID) – Officials with Idaho’s J.R. Simplot Company are paying close attention to Canada’s new market of genetically modified apples. The apples have been modified to halt browning. Simplot is creating its own genetically modified potato, which authorities believe will rise or fall on how well Canadian consumers react to other “high tech” foods. Simplot is using the same technology used on the apples, which experts believe will significantly improve produce
