The fourth surgery has been considered to be “very likely” since Gronkowski’s forearm became infected earlier this year.  The exact date of the surgery is not yet set.

Dr. Jesse Jupiter of Massachusetts General Hospital will perform the surgery, but it should be noted that Gronkowski brought in orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews as a consultant.

He should need about 10 weeks to heal following the surgery, with that estimate putting his return right around the beginning of training camp in July.

Gronkowski originally broke his forearm Nov. 18 playing against the Indianapolis Colts.  He returned for the postseason but re-broke the forearm in the AFC divisional playoffs against the Houston Texans.
