The two bands reached the height of their popularity in the 1990s, and they both went on tour together last year, but that apparently didn’t matter to the fan who allegedly picked a fight with Carter.

Carter had reportedly just had dinner with a friend on Saturday night when a man approached and said: “I heard you’re doing a show here tomorrow. This is the town of the New Kids,” the website TMZ reported.

Three other men jumped out of a gold Chevrolet Malibu and started hitting him, TMZ added.

On Sunday, Carter, 25, tweeted: “It’s true, I got my ass jumped last night. But I’m a soldier.. Errrrr”

The “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” singer posted images of his bruised face and knuckles on Instagram, and tweeted this: “Eh @jordanknight this one of your homies? He got his a– handed to him last night but his boys got me.”

He later clarified on Twitter that he was making a joking reference to Boston when he tweeted about Jordan Knight. Knight is a member of the New Kids on the Block.

Carter also tweeted that he was “a 6th degree black belt in Muay Thai.. They lost.”

He reportedly did not inform police about the alleged attack.

Carter appeared on season nine of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. He is currently on his After Party tour.
