(POCATELLO, ID) – Bannock County commissioners have signed off on the first step of a proposed $4.5 million methane gas project. Officials have awarded a $1.3 million contract for a methane-powered generator to Western Equipment. The county would use excess methane gas produced at the landfill to generate electricity, which would then be sold to Idaho Power. They estimate that the project will easily pay for itself and save the county at least $15 million over the next decade.
