The 28-year-old Norris (5-4) allowed just four hits and three walks while striking out six. He picks up his third win of the year against the Halos.

Carter gave Houston the lead in the top of the seventh when he took the first pitch tossed by Angels starter Jerome Williams and sent it sailing over the left field bullpen for his 11th homer of the season.

With runners on first and third and two outs in the bottom of the 9th, Astros closer Jose Veras got Angels outfielder Mike Trout to ground into a fielder’s choice to end the game.
