Golovkin Retains Titles With 3rd Round KO Of Macklin

The 31-year-old Golovkin sent Macklin crashing to the canvas with a left hand at 1:22 into the third round to improve to 27-0 with 24 knockouts.

The match was all Golovkin as he landed several crushing combinations in the first two rounds before send Macklin to his third loss in his last four fights. Since winning both championships, Golovkin has made five successful title defenses. He hasn’t gone the distance since June 2008 when he beat Amar Amari via an eight-round unanimous decision.

Golovkin has now knocked out his last 14 opponents.
