“The amendment is ready, but we have to make sure it’s ready,” Reid said Thursday night, noting that this isn’t his “first rodeo” and the legislation is too sensitive to rush.

A full day passed without the Hoeven-Corker compromise deal being filed. Supporters say the agreement isn’t in trouble, but rather senators are trying to seal the deal on other elements of the immigration plan, such as issues intended to sweeten the pot for southern senators and a streamlined e-verify immigration system.

Reid says the Senate amendment should be introduced Friday morning, a full 24 hours after it was originally planned to be unveiled.

Reid adjourned the Senate at 10:35 p.m. Thursday.
