Jerry Mathers, Star of TV’s “Leave It to Beaver,” Turns 65
(NEW YORK) — The Beaver is a senior citizen. Jerry Mathers, best known for his role as Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver on the classic TV series Leave It to Beaver, turned 65 on Sunday.
The Sioux City, Iowa, native began his career at the age of two as a child model, before eventually branching out into television commercials and movies. He got the role as “Beaver” in 1957 and the show ran for six seasons.
His acting career also includes the films Back to the Beach, The Seven Little Foys and Men of the Fighting Lady. In 2007, he appeared on Broadway, starring as Wilbur Turnblad in Hairspray.
