Kane Propels Chicago Past Boston in Game 5 of Stanley Cup Final

Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images(CHICAGO) — Patrick Kane scored twice, and Corey Crawford made 24 saves as the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Boston Bruins in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final Saturday night, 3-1.
Chicago now leads the series 3-2.
The loss could be even worse for the Bruins. In the second period Bruins’ center Patrice Bergeron slowly skated off the ice after pulling up lame after rushing down the ice for a loose puck. It appeared Bergeron was barely touched but he ended up getting taken by ambulance to a local Chicago hospital. There’s been no word on what is wrong.
Even without Bergeron, the Bruins made a game of it. B’s captain Zdeno Chara scored 3:40 into the third to cut the Hawks lead to one.
It stayed that way until the final 13.6 seconds of the game when David Bolland scored an empty netter to ice the game for the Hawks.
Still, the win came with a loss for the Blackhawks. Captain Jonathan Toews was hit hard by the Bruins Johnny Boychuck at the end of the second period. Toews didn’t make it back on the ice for the third period. Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville said he hopes Toews will be ready for Game 6.
The Hawks will look to close out the series Monday in Boston. The puck is set to drop at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
