Kristen Bell Proposes to Dax Shepard After DOMA Struck Down

Christopher Polk/Getty Images for VH1(NEW YORK) — Actress Kristin Bell and actor Dax Shepard have been engaged since 2009, but never tied the knot because, as Bell once said, “I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my [gay and lesbian] friends.”
But after the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act on Wednesday, she’s had a change of heart.
“.@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove,” Bell wrote on Twitter. “You’re damn right DOMA is unconstitutional!! #equalitymatters”
“DOMA is dead. Prop 8 is dead. Now let’s bring my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to Life!!!!” he responded.
Bell, 32, and Shepard, 38, may just now be planning their nuptials, but they took a big step in their relationship earlier this year, when they welcomed a daughter, Lincoln.
“[Motherhood is] actually better than I expected,” the Veronica Mars star told Ellen DeGeneres recently. “It’s pretty wonderful, yeah. It’s a lot of fun.”
