N.Y. Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery
(NEW YORK) — New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira will undergo season-ending surgery on his ailing right wrist, the club announced on Wednesday.
The two-time All-Star underwent an MRI that showed the torn tendon sheath in his wrist did not heal properly. The expected recovery time is six months.
Teixeira injured his wrist on March 5 when he was hitting off a tee while suiting up for the U.S. team during the World Baseball Classic. He made his 2013 season debut on May 31, but appeared in just 15 games, hitting .151 with three home runs and 12 RBIs.
