Serena Williams Advances At Wimbledon
Published at(LONDON) — Five-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams breezed past Caroline Garcia in the second round of the grass court tournament on Thursday, 6-3, 6-2.
“I still feel like I am trying to adjust a lot,” Williams said after the match. “I feel like today, I played better than my first-round match. I feel like I definitely had to play better. But I’m still adjusting.”
Up next for Williams is Kimiko Date-Krumm of Japan, who at 42 is the oldest woman in the Open era to reach the third round of Wimbledon.
With the victory, the 31-year-old Williams is 76-3 since 2012 and 26-1 at Wimbledon since 2009.
