Serena Williams Advances To French Open Quarterfinals
Published at(PARIS) — Serena Williams won her career best 28th consecutive match on Sunday, defeating Roberta Vinci in straight sets in the fourth round of the French Open.
The 15-time Grand Slam champion open the first set with a 4-0 lead in route a 6-1 victory. In the second set, Williams won the last 10 points to win, 6-3. The match lasted 70 minutes.
With the victory, Williams moves on to the quarterfinals where she will take on 2009 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Williams’ lone French Open championship came back in 2002 when she defeated her sister, Venus Williams, 7-5, 6-3.
