(JACKSON, WY) – A new study from the University of Colorado is questioning the way federal wildlife officials track and tally grizzly bears in Yellowstone. Government reports suggest that the grizzly population is rebounding, with more than 700 bears in and around the park. However, experts say the results may not be accurate, since more time is spent counting bears now than in years past. They say many more bears were likely not included in previous studies, which may indicate that current bear numbers are actually lower than normal.
