Tigers Place Anibal Sanchez on DL
Published atAfter being scratched from his previous start because of muscle stiffness near his shoulder, Sanchez was pulled from Saturday’s game after pitching just 3 2/3 innings because his velocity was down.
Sanchez had an MRI on his shoulder Sunday which showed no damage.
The 29-year-old Sanchez signed a a five-year, $80 million contract with the Tigers this offseason.
In 13 starts for Detroit this year, Sanchez has posted a 6-5 record to go along with a 2.76 ERA, 1.15 WHIP while striking out 101 batters in 81 2/3 innings.
The Tigers will bring up left-hander Jose Alvarez to make Sanchez’s start Thursday versus the Boston Red Sox.
