Tribes Fighting EPA Over FMC Cleanup

(FORT HALL, ID) – The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes are fighting a proposed federal plan to deal with the cleanup at the old FMC plant. The Environmental Protection Agency wants to cap the contaminated soil and groundwater to keep it from spreading to the Portneuf River, which will take around three years at a cost of $60 million. Fort Hall officials, however, want all the contaminated material completely removed.
