The Mizuno women’s Wave Rider 16 running shoe that Sen. Wendy Davis wore for her 13-hour filibuster on the Texas State Senate floor this week has received some excellent five-star reviews on Amazon.

“The next time you have to spend 13 hours on your feet without food, water or bathroom breaks, this is the shoe for you,” Amazon user M. Black wrote Tuesday. “Guaranteed to outrun patriarchy on race day.”

In another post titled “Fits perfectly up a republican’s rear end,” user GML wrote Wednesday, “Luckily these shoes are really great for kicking republican legislators out of office! They want to shut down reproductive and health care facilities for the poor in Texas? Use these shoes to shut down the state capital!”

User James Y. Bryce almost guaranteed the shoe’s success, writing on Thursday,  ”When you pick a shoe for your filibuster what are your criteria? Softness, comfort, snappy colors? The Mizuno Women’s Wave Rider 16 Running Shoe has it all.”

A soft, comfortable, snappy shoe could have a powerful effect when, as user IV wrote Wednesday, “Standing up for 11 hours straight in a room full of men who are telling [you] what to do with your baby-maker is no easy task.”

Other users took the connection between the shoes and Davis’ cause to protect abortion rights a step further. “I bought an extra pair to wear directly over my womb, which seems to have done the trick. No more pesky unsolicited probings!” user K. Kaufman wrote Thursday.

Mizuno USA could not be reached for comment.

Democrat Davis, 50, wore her pick and green Japanese Mizuno shoes on the state Senate floor as she prevented a vote on a restrictive abortion bill. If passed, the bill would force most Texas abortion clinics to close their doors because of its tough regulations. The bill would also ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Because of Davis’ efforts, the largely Republican Senate was unable to vote before the special session’s midnight deadline. Texas Gov. Rick Perry is now calling for a second special session to bring the issue back to the floor.

If so, Davis’ running shows could make a repeat Senate appearance.
