The 40-year-old Colon was spectacular for Oakland once again. He pitched nine innings, gave up no runs, and allowed just four hits on Sunday.

Colon improved his record to 13-3 on the season. He’s tied with Max Scherzer and Matt Moore for the American League lead in wins. His 2.52 ERA also ranks second in the American League behind Felix Hernandez (2.43).

Colon also now has thrown three shutouts this season, the most he’s thrown in single season since 2002.

First baseman Brandon Moss was the main hero for Oakland as he went 3-4 with an RBI at the plate while second baseman Eric Sogard went 2-4 in the game.

Oakland also put even further distance between themselves and the Angels and the rest of the AL West.

With the win, the team improved to 57-41 and now hold a 10-game lead over the Angels.
