The latest incident involved a Japan Airlines flight taking off from Haneda Airport in Tokyo.

According to a spokesman for the carrier, the plane’s captain was alerted to a hydraulic fuel leak after being in the air for just 30 minutes.  The captain then decided to turn the San Francisco-bound flight around, landing back in Tokyo four hours later.

The plane landed safely at Haneda, with no injuries to the 250 passengers on board.  They were placed on another flight that took off hours later.

Japan Airlines said engineers are investigating what caused the leak.

Tuesday’s incident comes after Asiana Airlines Flight 214, also a Boeing 777, crashed at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday.  The tail was torn off as the jet crashed and it burst into flames.

Two people died and 181 others were injured in Saturday’s crash.
