Cano, the captain of the AL team, said he needed more time to secure his final pick after he selected Detroit’s Prince Fielder, and Baltimore’s Chris Davis on Monday.

Cespedes has 15 home runs this season.

The National League is made up of the Mets’ David Wright (captain), the Rockies’ Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer as well as the Nationals’ Bryce Harper.

The Home Run Derby takes place Monday at 8 p.m.
