Both David Duchovny, 52, and Gillian Anderson, 44, said they were open to the idea of another movie when they took the stage Thursday for a 20th anniversary panel at Comic-Con.

“I think we could do it forever,” Duchovny said. “I always thought whenever we can do it – come back together – we would.”

Show creator Chris Carter didn’t commit either way on the idea of a new movie.

The X-Files was a cult classic TV show that ran from 1993 to 2002, with Duchovny and Anderson taking on the roles of FBI agents tasked with investigating the unexplainable, including monsters and aliens. In addition to the TV show, two movies were made.

Both stars were playful with the audience after coming out to a standing ovation.

Anderson was asked what Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, their X-Files characters, would do on a night out.

“Have sex,” she quipped.

Then her counterpart jumped in and said, “Then, maybe dinner?”
