(MOUNTAIN HOME, ID) – A squadron of F-15 fighter jets stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base can hit the skies again. The 391st Fighter Squadron was grounded earlier this year amid widespread cuts in defense spending. Pilots had been training with flight simulators, but were unable to practice bombing runs and other operations in southern Idaho. Officials say it’s good news for pilots and weapon systems operators who need to be combat-ready for missions in Afghanistan and around the globe. Mountain Home’s other F-15 squadron has been deployed in Southwest Asia since April.
