In an interview with Good Housekeeping, Jackman says he and his wife have heard all of the rumors about his sexuality over the years, and he doesn’t pay them any mind.

“I don’t really pay attention,” Jackman explains. “If someone’s going to spend their time saying, ‘You’re really not 6-foot-2; you’re 5-foot-10,’ I’ll tell them once, ‘I am 6-foot-2’. Then, whatever you want to believe, it’s up to you. We really only get mad when there’s an element of truth, right?”

Jackman says his main focus right now is keeping the romance fresh with his wife. He notes, “My number one rule for romance is surprise. If I bring Deb flowers every Tuesday, yeah, it’s nice, but is it romantic?”

So, the 44-year-old actor changes things up every now and then. He says, “So much of life is about your routine. I recently pretended I was still on the set. I called Deb and said, ‘I’ll be back late tonight.'”

Jackman then showed up hours before his wife expected him home. “And she got such a shock. I’d made reservations at our favorite lunch place. It was three hours before the kids finished school, and it was awesome because it was unplanned.”

Jackman will be seen next on the big screen in The Wolverine, which opens in theaters on July 26.
