Idaho Chosen to Lead Yogurt Pilot Program
Published at( TWIN FALLS , ID ) – Idaho is one of four states that will now offer Greek yogurt as a substitute for meat in meals served in public schools. Following an initiative from First Lady Michelle Obama and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Idaho , Arizona , New York , and Tennessee will spearhead a pilot program aimed at making healthier foods available in school lunches. In January, federal health officials determined that Greek yogurt was an acceptable meat substitute because of its high protein content. That’s also good news for Chobani, a New York-based yogurt producer which opened a plant in Twin Falls last December.
