Illinois is the only state in the nation without a conceal and carry law on the books. Now a federal appeals court has given the state until July 9 to come up with a conceal and carry law.

But Gov. Pat Quinn Tuesday rejected the state legislature’s latest bill, using his amendatory veto power to demand that law makers make at least nine changes, including preventing guns in places that serve alcohol, and limiting people to just one gun with with one magazine of 10 rounds of ammunition.

“There are serious flaws in this bill that jeopardize public safety of the people of Illinois,” Quinn said Tuesday.

The changes give lawmakers one week, including the holiday to get something done.
