Chestnut downed 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes Thursday, breaking his own record enroute to his seventh win in the contest.  He took home $10,000 and a mustard-yellow champion’s belt.

“I made a new record and people seemed happy,” Chestnut said. “It was a great day.”

Matt “Megatoad” Stonie earned second place honors after devouring 51 hot dogs.

Chestnut is a proven winner in the world of competitive eating. He holds world records for tamale eating, pastrami eating, ice cream eating and rib eating, among others.

Sonya Thomas won the women’s race by eating nearly 37 hot dogs.  She ate 36 3/4 hot dogs, finishing a fraction of a dog ahead of Juliet Lee, who ate 36.
