Johnny Depp Says Retirement ‘Not Too Far Away’

“Are there quieter things I wouldn’t mind doing? Yeah, I wouldn’t mind that,” he told BBC Breakfast earlier this week. “I wouldn’t say that I’m dropping out any second, but I would say it’s probably not too far away.”

“At a certain point, you start thinking and…when you add up the amount of [script] dialogue that you say per year, for example, and you realize that you’ve said written words more than you’ve actually had a chance to say your own words, you start thinking about that as a kind of insane option for a human being,” he continued.

The Oscar-winning actor is currently starring in Lone Ranger, which didn’t do so well at the box office. Still, before Depp can hang it up for good, he’s expected to appear in Pirates of the Caribbean 5, due out in 2015, and he’s rumored to reprise his role as the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland 2.
