(NEW YORK) — Stocks finished higher for the fourth straight session on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day up 75 points to close at 15,300. The Dow is now just 109-points from the all-time high hit on May 28.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite has been up for nine of the last 10 trading days and now sits at its best level since October 2000. On Tuesday, the index closed up 19 points at 3,504.
The S&P 500 index gained 12 points, closing at 1,652.
Caterpillar, Cisco and Bank of America turned out to be the Dow’s best performers of the day.
The best performers on the Nasdaq Tuesday included Netflix, Kla-Tencor and Yahoo.
The markets were, in part, lifted by a positive start to earnings season.
A major rebound for homebuilding stocks was another big positive for the markets Tuesday. This group surged following news that foreclosures in May were down 27 percent from a year ago.
