Nelson Mandela Still Critical One Month After Hospitalization
Published at(PRETORIA, South Africa) — Monday marks exactly one month since former South African President Nelson Mandela entered a hospital in Pretoria.
The 94-year-old civil rights leader was admitted to Mediclinic Heart Hospital on June 8 for a recurring lung infection.
Little details have been provided about Mandela’s health during this latest hospital stay. The Nobel Peace Prize winner has been hospitalized four times since last December.
According to the latest statement from South African President Jacob Zuma’s office, which was issued on July 4, Mandela remains in critical but stable condition.
Madiba, as Mandela is affectionately known, will turn 95 on July 18.
