Phillies 1B Ryan Howard Needs Knee Surgery
Published at(PHILADELPHIA) — Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard will need to have left knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus and will miss at least six to eight weeks. An MRI performed on Monday confirmed the diagnosis.
The Phillies placed Howard on the 15-day disabled list Saturday after he was playing with a noticeable limp. The 2006 NL MVP was batting .266 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs.
No date for the surgery has been set.
