Reds Pitcher Homer Bailey No-Hits the San Francisco Giants
Published at(CINCINNATI) — Reds starting pitcher Home Bailey tossed the first no-hitter of the season in Cincinnati’s 3-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
Bailey got Giants outfielder Gregor Blanco to ground out to secure the second no-hitter of his career. His last “no-no” came on Sep. 28, 2012 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, which was the last time a no-hitter was tossed in the majors.
“It’s something I’ve already done, so I knew what to expect,” Bailey said of his easy-as-could-be step into rare territory.
The 27-year-old Bailey had a perfect game before walking the leadoff hitter, Blanco in the seventh.
It’s the 16th no-hitter in Reds history. Bailey joins Mark Buerhle, Justin Verlander, and Roy Halladay as the only active pitchers with two career no-hitters.
