“RHONJ” Star Describes ‘Difficult Day’ of Fraud Charges; Will Plead Not Guilty

(NEW YORK) — After Teresa Giudice and her husband were charged with 39 counts of fraud Monday, The Real Housewives of New Jersey star vowed to keep working.
In a statement to ABC News, she also described how “difficult” Monday’s charges were on her family.
“I support Joe and, as a wonderful husband and father, I know he wants only the best for our lovely daughters and me,” she said. ”I am committed to my family and intend to maintain our lives in the best way possible, which includes continuing my career. As a result, I am hopeful that we will resolve this matter with the government as quickly as possible.”
Teresa Giudice, 41, and her husband, 43, were charged in an alleged conspiracy to defraud lenders and illegally obtain mortgages during a bankruptcy case.
The indictment, obtained by ABC News, also accused Joe Giudice of failure to file tax returns for 2004 through 2008, a period when he allegedly earned nearly $1 million.
Teresa Giudice’s attorney, Henry Klingeman of Krovatin Klingeman LLC in Newark, N.J., also issued a statement about the case.
“Teresa will plead ‘not guilty.’ The judicial process that begins today with an indictment is a search for the truth, “ he said.
Klingeman said he looks forward to Teresa’s vindication as the case proceeds.
The couple may be accused together, but Klingeman said he is not representing both of the Giudices.
Joe Giudice is a client of Miles Feinstein in Clifton, N.J., Feinstein’s office confirmed, though it could not yet say if Feinstein would represent him in this particular case.
The couple is expected to make an initial court appearance Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET in Newark, N.J., federal court.
