From August 2005 through at least July of 2012 prosecutors in New Jersey say five men based in Russia used malware to penetrate the computer networks of multinational corporations, credit card payment processors and financial institutions.

Court records say 160 million credit card numbers were stolen in the alleged scheme, resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars in losses.

Targets included NASDAQ, 7-Eleven, JC Penney, JetBlue, Dow Jones and Visa.
