The price of a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $3.65, down 3.6 cents from a week ago.  This price is up 14 cents compared to a year ago, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Drivers in the Midwest states have seen the biggest drop in prices, according to Gasbuddy.com analyst Patrick DeHaan.

“Really the Midwest is seeing the biggest decreases. Across Michigan, Indiana and Ohio prices have dropped over 10 cents per gallon in those states over the last week,” he said.

The West Coast still has the most expensive gas at $3.93, down 2.5 cents from last week. The Gulf Coast has the cheapest gas at $3.48, down 3 cents from last week.

DeHaan added that the Wednesday report may show another decline in crude inventories.  It could impact oil prices, depending on how big the decline is, he said.

“Crude prices down about three dollars a barrel. That’s allowing some relief at the pump across the country,” DeHaan said.
