Vincent Lecavalier Inks Five-Year Deal with Flyers
Published at(PHILADELPHIA) — It didn’t take long for Vincent Lecavalier to find a new home.
Just days after being bought out of his contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Lecavalier agreed to a five-year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers worth $22.5 million.
According to ESPN, the deal is worth $4.5 million per year and has a no-movement clause. The 33-year-old Lecavalier had his previous contract bought out by the Lightning, who owe him $32.67 million.
Approximately 15 teams showed an interest in Lecavalier, with the Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens being considered right until the very end of the process.
Lecavalier was the No. 1 pick in the 1998 NHL draft by the Lightning. He is a four-time All-Star and led the Lightning to a Stanley Cup title in 2004.
