Weekly Jobless Claims Rise to 343,000

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims rose during the third week of July, climbing to 343,000, the Labor Department reported on Thursday.
For the week ending July 20, the number of people filing for benefits increased by 7,000. The previous week, claims stood at 336,000.
The four-week average, meanwhile, went down slightly, decreasing by 1,250 to 345,250.
