TED ALJIBE/AFP/Getty Images(CEBU, Philippines) — At least 31 people are dead and about 170 are missing after a ferry crashed into a cargo ship in the Philippines Friday night.

According to the BBC, the ferry was carrying 715 passengers and 116 crew members when it collided with a cargo vessel. The ferry sank within 10 minutes.

The cargo ship did not sink. It had 36 crew members on board.

The ferry was near its destination, Cabu, the second biggest city in the Philippines, at the time of the crash. The boat was about 2km from the shore, the BBC reports.

Divers are still searching for bodies on the ferry.

A US State Department official said there are no known US citizen deaths or injuries at this time.
