Bus Crash in Morocco Kills 16 Royal Guardsmen
Published at(AL HOCEIMA, Morocco) — At least 16 Moroccan Royal Guardsmen died and more than 40 guardsmen were injured after a bus crash Saturday near al-Hoceima in Morocco.
Eight are in serious condition, the BBC reports.
According to the BBC, the bus fell into a 200-meter ravine.
The Moroccan Royal Guard has 6,000 members; its sole purpose is royal security, according to the BBC. The guardsmen, who always accompany King Mohammed VI when he is in the country, were preparing for a visit by the King.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash.
