California Wildfire Claims Dozens of Structures, Injures Six

In an update Friday morning, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDFFP) said 26 residences and one commercial structure have been destroyed in the “Silver” fire.  Two other structures were damaged.

The agency said three more firefighters were hurt battling the blaze, bringing the total number of injuries to five firefighters and one civilian.

As of Friday morning, the fire has burned 15,000 acres and is 25 percent contained.  

According to the CDFFP, evacuations remain in effect for the communities of Vista Grande, Mt. Edna, Poppet Flats, Twin Pines, and Silent Valley, as well as portions of Cabazon.

More than 1,600 firefighters are working to control the flames.
