Claude Giroux Injures Finger While Golfing
Published at(PHILADELPHIA) — Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux injured his right index finger while golfing in Ottawa and was forced to undergo surgery.
He is expected to be sidelined for a little over a month. Giroux sustained tendon damage to his finger when a golf club he was using shattered and splintered into his finger.
“Although there were no broken bones, there was some damage to his extensor tendons in his finger,” Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said in the statement. “He is expected to have a full recovery in 5-6 weeks.”
The Flyers signed Giroux to an eight-year contract extension worth more than $64 million last month. He finished with 13 goals last season.
