Georgia Man Found Guilty in Toddler’s Murder

Hemera/Thinkstock(BRUNSWICK, Ga.) — A jury in Georgia found teenager De’Marquiese Elkins guilty Friday of murdering a toddler during a robbery attempt last spring.
Elkins showed now emotion as he was found guilty on all 11 counts.
The verdict brings an end to a trial that detailed the final moments of little Antonio Santiago’s life. The 13-month-old was shot in his stroller when his mother Sherry West refused to give up her purse during the robbery attempt in March.
Elkins faces life in prison for the murder. He was spared the death penalty because the 18-year-old was only 17 when the shooting occurred.
